'Tis the season of the catwalk: Zac Posen

With New York Fashion Week just wrapping up and London Fashion Week currently underway, keeping up with all the shows and school work is practically impossible but passion is passion and somehow I make it work. As promised in the last post, we will take a trip down memory lane to last Monday September 14, 2009 when Zac Posen debuted his Spring/Summer 2010 collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
His collection this season was quite a jump from his Fall/Winter collection. We see lots of yellows, pinks, greens, and blacks this season as opposed to the metallic pieces of the Fall. Short dresses are contrasted with conservative tops, which gives a much more polished and sophisticated look. In comparison to last year's Spring/Summer collection, we see a lot more floor length pieces and the departure of the "under-the-knee-but-above-the-ankle" dress.

My personal favorites from this collection were the Harem-meets-Wall-street-business-woman pants:

The black and green off-the-shoulder mini-dress with the thin green belt:

and the tied clutch (which seems eerily similar to the head piece Madonna has on in her new Louis Vuitton Ad):

Overall, I was a little disappointed with this collection because I didn't get a WOW factor from any of the clothes but I'm going to blame it on the recession and pray for the best for next season. Don't worry Zac, you're still amazing in my eyes.
**************

I will keep you updated on all things London Fashion Week (and maybe a few more of my favorites from NY fashion week) starting tomorrow, but for now I must go labor through my reading.

Ringing out,
Donia
