tragedy

i like to touch walls when i walk.
the feeling of each touch slipping away just does something to me.
a few days ago i was walking back to my room, paying no attention to my hands touching the walls, when all of a sudden something bumps into my yellow ring and detaches the yellow part from the plastic base.
tragic.
tragic.
tragic.
my mother has superglue. hopefully that will bring life back to my beloved gem.

What would you do if you saw someone crawling like a child on the street (completely willingly)?

its my favorite thought these days.

Snugglin in my new Snuggie

I've been a secret fan of the snuggie since I first saw the ridiculous (and yet amazingly entertaining) commercials. The solid coloured ones are cute but I have to say I've been eying the leopard print ones for a while. At Century 21 today, one of my many destinations on my before-i-overdose-on-library shopping trip, I found it!

I'm not ashamed. Even though a snuggie is nothing more than an inside-out fleece robe with no strings but HEY, an obsession is an obsession.

Top (omgigottheshoes) Shop

Yesterday, the amazingly amazing human being who goes by the name Max surprised me with the most perfect birthday gift of my life....no but like actually, EVER.

The beautiful 5.7 inch heels from TopShop have been the Romeo in my life for the past month or so. I can't find a picture of them on the TopShop website but I will promptly take a photo and upload it as soon as I can.
I thought that was the end of the excitement for the day (even though the excitement of getting those shoes will last me a lifetime) but NO, he finds a way to make it more amazing. Here is the lovely story:

Thinking that we were going to an art gallery opening in the Meatpacking District, I threw on some leggings and a top, secured my feet into my new heavenly posessions, and strutted my stuff down to the car. Finally in the area, I started waddling my way through the rocky grounds of 13th street. We were heading towards a really cool looking restaurant but I took little notice of it until Max started walking towards it, opening the door and going inside.
BAM. 7 of my friends stood inside of the restaurant. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! they said.
It was truly just a wonderful surprise.

I am so grateful to have such wonderful friends. Thank you for everything.
I love you guys.

and as for you Mr.MM, I need to find a perfect way to make it up to you.
I've said it maybe 100 times since last night but THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU

Friends, Romans, Countrymen

Lend me your ears. (this was the mass text i sent out for thanksgiving today, with a witty additive about giving thanks etc.)

Today I watched a wonderful documentary about our Earth called "Home."
Why is this relevant to your fashion blog donia?.. you might so ask.
Well, the majority of the sponsors of the documentary were fashion houses. There were such big names as YSL, Gucci, and Alexander McQueen.

It makes me wonder... How much research do these houses actually do about their impact on the environment? Is it all a show or is there genuine concern?

I'll do some research and let you know.

IN OTHER NEWS.

I finally wore my Dolce Vita over-the-knee boots! My mother said I looked like quite the mademoiselle today. Appreciation.

WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK

MODEL MANIA

for those of you who haven't figured it out yet...

i am OBSESSED with models.

Here's a really quirky article from New York Magazine's "The Cut":

Check it out.

Those models are, of course, the Victoria's Secret Angels (noticeably absent this year was Adriana Lima who just gave birth last week).

Heidi Klum pulled herself together and strutted her stuff on the runway 3 WEEKS after giving birth. WORK IT HEIDI!

Its a Cinch.

Faithful followers, my absence is inexcusable but I come with goods. and news.

Yesterday I had an interview with Marie Claire Magazine (AAA SO EXCITING) for a fashion internship in the Winter (december through january). Unfortunately, since the internship would overlap with a few school days, I would not be able to commit 5 full days to the job, which is what was being asked. I am so happy I got to have that experience though and I'm definitely going to keep looking for more amazing opportunities like this!

However, this experience brought something very important to my attention:
I do not have enough belts.

so I looked and looked and looked online and found this wonderful compilation of photos of how this essential accessory can be used.
It is from NY MAG (which i am an addict of): ENJOY

from Super Model to Super Normal

Australian Super Model Gemma Ward has quit modeling, claim several Australian news reports.
After weight gain got bloggers and journalists buzzing about the future of the 22 year old vixen, her modeling agency (IMG) issued a statement saying that she has no plans to return to modeling anytime soon.
Gemma's dominance on the catwalk has been less evident this past year. This is said to be due to the death of her rumored ex-boyfriend Heath Ledger, claims the Strait Times.
Below are two photos of Gemma, before and after her weight gain.
She looks healthy to me! Do what you need to do girl, you're beautiful anyway!

Back!

I just realized today that I haven't posted on here for two weeks.
Oh dear.
These past few weeks have been HECTIC! mditerms, panic attacks, divaliciousness, you name it I had it.

WELL, thursday I'm off to California (wooooh!!) so of course I have to do some shopping before I travel (because my two full closets of clothing can always be expanded). Hopefully, I'll get some great posts in while I'm there!
I'm thinking I might stop by TopShop tomorrow to shop!

Leave comments with suggestions and stuff!

Columbia Statements: Emperor M

I had a very witty night with my dear dear friend Michael tonight. After we had some nice foreign food (BALAWA Michael!) and talked about some pressing issues, he took me back to his blissful abode to show me the shoes that he spent an unmentionable amount of money on.
Thankfully, they were all beautiful but there were two of them that were to DIE for!
Again, I apologize for the quality of the pictures from my blackberry but you should click on it to make it bigger and appreciate the amazingness!

Hugo Boss:
They are a lot shinier and a lot fresher in real life.

Columbia Statements

Sitting through another seemingly endless class of Human Rights (don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy the course), I peek down at the feet of my friend Catherine and discover these little beauties: (i recommend clicking on the photo to get a more detailed view)

They are suede vintage Chanel flats that have been through everything from combating the stain of pasta sauce to flirting with dirt on the streets of Brooklyn. Part of the reason I like them so much is because the dirt on them makes them so much more real.
After class, we watched as a hilariously cute little girl in a bright yellow rain coat screamed in joy as the wind blew water from the fountain on Low Steps right at her. I requested a picture of these gems especially to share with you lovely people.

Lily Allen performed at the Chanel Spring/Summer RTW show this week. She even had some models acting as back-up singers.
How precious.

Let us marvel at the perfection that is the first family. Such class, such style.

Look at this beautiful montage.

Milano (Market)

Dedicated followers (and others) I would like to apologize for my extended absence. I have been labouring away at hours and hours and hours (i calculated that I spent 18 hours in the library this week) of work for school but its over and ITS THE WEEKEND!
During my few minutes of break (which were basically during lectures) I have been browsing through pages upon pages of photos from Milan Fashion Week and marveling at the ridiculously amazing creations that strutted the catwalk.
I am obsessed with the shoes this season. They are so high and so creative and amazing. LOVE!

Here are a few (which are a lot) of my favorite looks from Milan Fashion Week.

Dolce & Gabanna:

Versace:

Dsquared:

Bottega Veneta

Fendi: The first dress looks like something Rachel Zoe's assistant Taylor would wear. Also, the second one is my FAVORITE!

Ferragamo:

Shout out to Elizabeth for picking this next one in the middle of Human Rights. She said that she would "definitely wear this to some high-end cocktail party someday."

Emporio Armani

Pucci:

Gucci

Moschino

Rimondi

SO MANY GREAT LOOKS! I am especially in love with Rimondi's embellishments and Pucci's effortless chic looks.
Shoes are killing me. Like right out murdering. I AM IN LOVE WITH EVERY SINGLE PAIR THAT WALKED THE RUNWAY!

Off to catch up on some well deserved rest, perhaps even shoe shopping.

Donia
